Escapade Backpack: Our old-school rucksack that gets better with age.

Inspired by the old-school rucksack designs of the 80s, the Escapade Backpack has been refined via more testing and ongoing improvements than any other product in the Zorali line.

A multifunctional all-rounder designed to go anywhere

What started as a redesign of our first backpack (the Pioneer Pack), quickly shifted into something much bolder: we wanted a versatile backpack for escapades anywhere. From a stroll in your hometown to trail days in the mountains. A backpack that holds 30 litres in volume, and has 8 pockets, but can still pack down small. One that makes a great carry-on bag for travel, but can also expand to fit a light tent plus gear and equipment due to its versatile roll-top. The Escapade Backpack was born.

Co-designed in collaboration with our customers

The original concept was a bag that distributes weight across your shoulders. Due to community input, in 2024 we added a removeable waistband for days that require a heavier load. We’ve also put a lot of focus on the shoulder straps, designed with plenty of padding and a chest clip to evenly distribute the load. Annnnd, due to feedback from our photography community, we added side straps, which work for tripods, but also for hiking poles or climbing gear. Though we love to dream up new colourways for this two-tone gem, we also love that we can barely keep up with demand for our existing colours. Keep watching this space: given the love we get for the Escapade, and how many we see out there in the world, we can’t wait to keep refining this much-loved backpack for a long time to come.

The best ever
Love the vintage and vibrant look. Love the storage capability! Love using it as a daddy bag for all my and my 5yo’s stuff. Can’t wait to take it outdoors. Best bag ever.

I just received it today. It’s nice good quality.
Great to use for outdoors. Love the colour but to me, it’s a darker colour than what was shown in the photo.

The most versatile backpack out!
Firstly I LOVE the design of this pack, it’s a major part of the reason I bought it.
It is super functional. I have used it for Uni, cycling to the shops to get groceries, and now as I’m travelling around Japan! Next I want to try using it for a super minimalist overnight hike just to see how it goes.
The size is great. It can fit in so much and the side pockets are great from bottles to keep cups to tripods.
I’ve got the newer version with the detachable hip belt which is a great feature. Much needed when I’ve got a full pack. The side pocket for laptops/tablets is so handy so you don’t have to undo your whole pack. Makes things very accessible. Overall, SO happy with the pack. I wanted the full black pack but it wasn’t in stock so decided to go with the green/navy combo, and I’m actually so happy I ended up with this colour.
Well done on such a good pack! I know why this one always sells out now. Hoping it will last forever.

Love
Recently traveled through Canada with this backpack, and it was absolutely perfect! Whether I was exploring cities, hiking in the Rockies, or using it as a carry-on for flights, it delivered. It’s super comfortable to wear, fits SO much, and has plenty of space on the outside for attachments. The chest and waist straps made longer hikes a breeze, and its weather-resistant design held up well in snow and rain. While the top and front pockets got a little damp, the main compartment stayed bone dry, keeping my essentials safe. If you’re looking for a versatile, reliable backpack for any adventure, this one’s a winner!

Great companion for adventures and daily use.
Six months on and this is easily my favourite backpack I've ever owned. I carry it almost every day for commuting, errands, dayhikes and motorcycling. Tough high-denier nylon construction, beefy and substantial hardware, really nice fit. Tons of space in the main compartment, stays comfortable fully-loaded all day on the trail. Access pockets on the front and top flap are pretty spacious and very useful. Really clean aesthetics. Stylish enough for the city, bulletproof enough for the bush. I really like how durable the water bottle side pockets are, mesh often just wears out too quickly. Throw a 30L pack cover into the top compartment and you're set for the weather. Fulfills all of my day-to-day carry needs perfectly. Cheers for the great design Zorali!
